A few nights ago Melis and I went to a puppet shadow play at the Sonobuddoyo Museum. One side had people playing instruments and color puppets (made out of water buffalo skin), and the other side displayed the shadows. Visitors could walk around freely between the sides. I'm not sure what the story line was but I know there was a lot of fighting!

Your last three posts were very engaging--it's interesting to see the everyday life and sights of Indo. I can get a much better feeling for what the country is really like rather than their tourist office. I'm looking forward to the night images you capture when you are back in the USA!
ReplyDeleteHow interesting - I'm still trying to figure out the set up - I like the shot of the musicians from behind. Those puppets look very much like the bookmark Melissa gave/sent me. I think you're right about the fighting - the figures do have angry faces! Great photos, T :-)
ReplyDeleteThose puppets will haunt my dreams.
ReplyDeleteHey there Todd! Loved seeing your updated posts. I forwarded this to mom as she is a puppeteer and has many similar puppets on display in her home. When are you headed home? Give Melissa a hug from me. Take care and thanks for keeping me in the loop:-)
