Bali 1.0

Last week I went to Bali for holiday.  I traveled around Kuta, Sanur, Talumben, Ubud, and Uluwatu.  The next 5 posts will be of my travels in Bali.

A cafe with coffee cup lights

The swastika on this Hindu shrine is no way related to Nazism. This symbol has been part of Hinduism for a long time.
Notice the daily offerings placed at the bottom.

  1. Beautiful shots, Todd. I like the coffee cup lights - the mural is a bit scary. Scarier still is the swastika, but you're right - Hitler stole it from the HIndus and gave it a real bad name. Bali really does look more western than Java - oh, and did you buy the dress for Melissa????

  2. The last one is not expandable but the smaller version of the image is intriguing. Great shot of the prayer offerings at the shrine. Did you buy Mel those dresses?

  3. I, too, am intrigued by the last one - almost voyeurism - what's happening in all the dark space. Nice composition!

  4. hi guys,
i didn't even ask how much the dresses cost. ubud can be pricey. melis would rather spend money on traveling or extending her visa!!!!

the last shot was across from our motel room. i came home one night frustrated that i didn't like any of my shots and as i walked up the stairs i saw the photo opp. it still amazes me that my favorite shots are the unexpected/unplanned ones!
