Warung

A warung is a place many people here in Indonesia go to get a quick bite to eat.  They have limited items to choose from and sometimes don't have menus.  They appear to be make shift places to eat that can easily be set up and taken down relatively quickly.  These photos are from a warung near my place in Yogyakarta.  I enjoy nasi goreng with an egg and ice jeruk to drink!

  1. Who needs a McDonald's franchise or Williams-Sonoma cookware to make a few bucks as a street vendor. Love the beat up old fan - hey, it must work! I think it's cool that you can actually SEE them cook what you order. And I bet the ice jeruk tastes pretty good in that heat. Neat shots, Todd.

  2. Love the colors and lighting in those photos... fire is fickle and very tough to properly capture with a camera. Beautiful work. 3 and 5 are spectacular.

The food looks awesome as well- and I love the forced air bellow (in the form of a clip-fan) to keep the coals hot. Awesome post.
